Overview

A Rochester educational tradition for over 45 years, Winton Road Nursery School is a semi-cooperative, non-profit preschool where children engage in hands-on activities, while their creativity, curiosity, and natural inclination for learning are encouraged to grow. With a wide range of diverse morning and afternoon programs for children ages two through five, Winton Road Nursery School’s semi-cooperative model allows parents to contribute their time and talent to help create a dynamic school environment for all students.

History

Winton Road Nursery School was established in 1964. We are located in the First Unitarian Church on Winton Road between Highland and East Avenues. The non-sectarian school is founded on the concept of semi-cooperative nursery education where parents get to know each other as they contribute time and talent to making their child’s school a great experience for everyone.  With the exception of our Young Nursery Program, parents do not teach, but hold Board or Chair positions OR serve on various committees vital to the successful functioning of the school.

The non-profit school offers a range of morning and afternoon programs for children ages 2 to 5. Classes begin the second week of September and continue through early June.

Winton Road Nursery School admits students of both sexes and of any race, creed, color and national or ethnic background. A small number of scholarships are awarded based on financial need (does not include the Young Nursery program). Download the scholarship application here.
